This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when merchants install or use our App inside their Shopify store.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Shopify Account Data
- Shop details such as shop domain, shop name, contact email, and storefront preferences.
- Shopify access tokens (offline tokens) required to read/write metafields and configure app embeds.
1.2 App Configuration Data
- Banner, messaging, color selections, icon choices, message templates, excluded product handles, and other UI settings.
- These preferences are stored in our managed Postgres database and optionally written to a shop metafield so the theme extension can render on the storefront.
1.3 Usage and Diagnostic Logs
- API request timestamps, response codes, and error traces used to identify stability issues.
- Aggregated analytics describing feature usage (e.g., which presets are selected) without tying data to specific customers.
We do not collect end-customer personal data, order contents, cart details, or payment information. The storefront script operates entirely on the client side and never transmits customer identifiers back to our servers.
2. How We Use Information
We process merchant data for the following purposes:
- Configure the App Experience Save banner and messaging settings, sync them to the storefront, and display previews inside the admin.
- Provide Support Inspect logs when merchants reach out for troubleshooting.
- Improve Reliability Monitor anonymized metrics to understand performance, latency, and feature adoption.
- Security Detect malicious usage, secure API endpoints, and protect merchant accounts.
3. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell or rent merchant data. Disclosure occurs only in these scenarios:
- Shopify APIs We share saved configuration values with Shopify via metafields or GraphQL mutations to power storefront embeds.
- Service Providers Managed hosting (e.g., Railway, Neon) and monitoring services that are under contract to safeguard data.
- Legal Compliance When required by applicable law, regulation, or court order.
4. Data Retention
- Configuration data persists for as long as the App is installed.
- If a merchant uninstalls the App, we remove saved settings and tokens within 30 days.
- Log files are retained for up to 90 days for security investigations before being anonymized or deleted.
5. Security
We apply standard safeguards:
- Encrypted connections (HTTPS) for all dashboard/API traffic.
- Restricted database access using role-based permissions.
- Rotating Shopify credentials and storing tokens using environment variables.
- Continuous monitoring for unusual activity.
While we follow best practices, no system can guarantee absolute security. Merchants are responsible for maintaining secure access to their Shopify admin accounts.
6. International Transfers
Our infrastructure may operate in the United States or other regions provided by our hosting partners. By using the App, you authorize us to transfer and store information in those locations. We take reasonable steps to ensure adequate protection regardless of where data is processed.
7. Your Rights
Merchants may:
- Access or update stored settings through the Apps admin UI.
- Request deletion of saved configuration data when uninstalling the App.
- Contact us to obtain a copy of their data or correct inaccuracies.
- Complain to a local supervisory authority if they believe data is handled unlawfully.
8. Children’s Privacy
The App targets Shopify merchants and is not intended for individuals under 16. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If we learn that we inadvertently stored such data, we will delete it promptly.
9. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect new features or legal requirements. Significant changes will be communicated through the admin dashboard or via email. The last updated date above reflects the most recent revision.
